Hear Th↓s Space in association with St Margarets Church - Festival for Contemporary Organ (30th June 2012)
|
Hear Th↓s Space were proud to facilitate a concert of contemporary organ and electroacoustic works in one of Leicester's oldest churches. The organist Lauren Redhead performed works by contemporary composers (both purely acoustic works and mixed works for organ and loudspeakers), alongside a programme of electroacoustic works that utilise organ sounds as source material. The concert featured works by Caroline Lucas, Alistair Zaldua, John Young, Adam Fergler, Andrew Hill/Motje Wolf and Yves Daoust. Hear Th↓s Space installed a custom multi-speaker system within St Margret's Church, designed to take advantage of the acoustics of the space and to present an enveloping sonic experience for the audience. Hear Th↓s Space @ Fabrika, Independent Arts Centre, Leicester (25th March 2011)
An evening of installations, performances and spatial sound diffusion exploring the architecture of this factory building, turned Australian bar, turned art centre. The downstairs gallery downstairs operated as the focus of the diffusion performances, but we also utilised the upstairs gallery of the space − providing a wonderful distant effect for those downstairs and a compelling avenue of sound for those upstairs.

Hear Th↓s Space @ Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre (August 27th 2010)
|
The concert at Phoenix Square Digital Media centre was originally intended to be held within the courtyard and was designed around the theme of natural and urban environments. However the British summer weather had other ideas and so we were forced to relocate the event to De Montfort Universities Cube installation space inside the building. However, with thanks to Stuart Smith and Mike's speaker tree we were able to bring a sense of nature indoors.
The event itself was divided into three thirty minute sections spread across the evening and we were very pleased to be able to present a new work by renowned sound recordist Chris Watson. Programme Notes Photographs |

A rather chilly but exciting start to our Hear Th↓s Space adventure! (Formerly Leicester ElectroAcoustic Sound Team).
St Andrew's church in Leicester city centre played host to a diverse concert of sound based music works. Speakers were placed throughout the church in order to take advantage of the scale and reverberance of the space and one of the pieces even utilised the Church's own pipe organ.
We were very fortunate to be joined by Professor Jonty Harrison from Birmingham university and director of Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre.
