Hear Th↓s Space

Hi, it is  Simon again from the Hear Th↓s Space team. I am currently researching the relationship between listening experiences and acousmatic music diffusion practice (stereo diffusion) as part of my MA by Research. I am interested to find out and what people’s experiences of acousmatic concerts are.  In particular how we enjoy (or not), stereo diffusion concerts. This first step takes the form of a few short questions. However, the aim is less about analysing why we enjoy them and more about sharing how we enjoy them.

(NB. I am of course assuming that you know what an acousmatic concert is, if not then please refer to the Hear Th↓s Space front page - 'what is this all about'  for further information.)

Please think of this not as a questionnaire, but more the beginning of a conversation that will lead to discussion that will potentially benefit the many people who enjoy and create acousmatic music. However, although this is ongoing I would be most grateful if you could respond to the questions by the 30th of November 2012

If you are willing, your answers and comments will be shared on the Research@Hear Th↓s Space  forum facilitating response and discussion. In time I hope this will become a hub for the wider acousmatic community so that composers, curators, technicians and audiences can share comments, ideas, thoughts, reviews, practices and even technical help.

But in order to kick things off, click on the link below and fill out the online form!

I hope you will take a few minutes to answer at least the first six questions and if you have experience of diffusing, the following eight. Then check back and see how others have answered and possibly responded to you contribution!

I am writing to invite you to share your concert listening experiences on our Research@Hear Th↓s Space forum. It can be describing a moment that you enjoyed or something that challenged you or a review of a whole concert or festival. The only terms of reference are that what you contribute is presented in a way that either shares your experience or stimulates a genuine discussion.

About the forum:It is members only forum and very simple to join just click here or go to the Research tab and read follow the link. You are welcome to join and contribute just let us know a bit about you and your interest in the area.

This is the first installment from Research@ Hear Th↓s Space, this site augments the activities and events of  Hear Th↓s Space. It will function as a nexus of information and informed discussion about our main themes of, site sensitive sound and spatial sound performance practice. this will include areas of philosophy of sound, aesthetics, technology, acoustics and perception. Whilst these are very disparate endeavors Research@ Hear Th↓s Space will hopes to foster interdisciplinary exchange.

The blog will summarise discussions that take place in the forums and also print papers from forum members and beyond.
